Caboolture
Caboolture, located 43km north of Brisbane on the Bruce Highway, has much to offer the traveling public. Thought by many to be the northern most urban area of the greater Brisbane metropolitan region, the name for the area, also according to many, arose from the bay into which the Caboolture River runs and was derived from an Aboriginal expression referring to the place of the carpet snake.
The urbanised area of Caboolture is surrounded by farmlands, mountain ranges and national parks while its centre is home to a lively shopping area, municipal offices and town square. Just south of the of the main business district is the parkland area of Centenary Lakes. This one kilometre bend in the Caboolture River is teeming with wildlife and is a popular spot for a scenic walk picnic or BBQ. To the west of the built up area you will find the Golf Club and to the east, on the other side of the Bruce Highway, the airfield and industrial area.
